Bear is not satisfied, and neither is Little Bird. "I wish I could fly," says Bear. "I'll teach you," says Little Bird, "if you'll teach me to be big." It's a bargain. But no matter how much Bear makes his friend eat and exercise, Little Bird stays little. Then Bear's garden yields a baby pumpkin that gives him an idea. Bear draws a likeness of Little Bird on the gourd. When it is fully grown, Little Bird is thrilled with the sight of himself really big, and finds his own way to reciprocate.
