This masterpiece of pointillism by French artist George Seurat was painted in 1884-86 and consists of thousands of tiny dots. The huge canvas is six feet by ten feet and hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago. The scene depicts Parisians spending a splendid Sunday afternoon on the banks of the river Seine.
